Colorado is a great place to live!
Let's start by looking at an overview of some of the cities in Boulder County. Boulder has a very high price point for homes, where condos start at around $300k and entry level single family houses are typically $800k+. The need for more affordable housing became prevalent with the high desirability of Boulder and the restrictions in place for building new housing. Boulder has an open space around the city that prevents urban sprawl. Even within the city limits, remodels and new builds cannot build in such a way to impact the sunlight on their neighbor! This prevents new sky-rise apartment complexes as well as condo complexes, limiting the number of available homes within the city. As Louisville became ranked #1 place in the country to live, the affordability in Louisville also rose and people were moving out to Longmont or Lafayette or down the I-36 corridor to Superior and Broomfield for housing.
Now let's take a broader look at Boulder County compared to the surrounding counties. For single family homes, Boulder is by far the most expensive area.
