Downtown is the heart of Boulder. Always decorated and lively with outdoor events on the pedestrian path of Pearl Street throughout the summer. Most popular area for tourists. Lots of shopping, coffee, restaurants, bars, art galleries, live music, historic artchitecture, and buskers. Trailheads start on the west side, and you can walk the path along Boulder Creek. Lots of people go tubing down the creek in the summer.
People love living in downtown Boulder for the walkability to everything including bars, restaurants, shops, and CU campus. The disadvantage is that the center of downtown Pearl St. can get a bit touristy and crowded during the warmer months.
